Lector Ministry

Lectors are parishioners who generously volunteer for this important ministry. They are trained to develop and strengthen their skills in proclaiming God’s Word and communicating with the congregation. There is always a need for more men and women, both young and old, to serve in this ministry.

The ministry of Lector at Mass is a position of honor and a genuine liturgical ministry. Lectors proclaim the Scripture readings from the ambo and, through clear and effective use of voice and expression, help communicate the meaning of the sacred texts to the congregation. They also welcome the congregation at weekend Masses, and make announcements as needed during the celebration of Mass.
